Lu,

Great find on www.priceprotectr.com. It is important to look for discounts after your purchase when a price guarantee is involved.

If you make your purchase from a retailer that guarantees the lowest price (like Circuit City); here's a site that ensures that you do get the best price after the purchase. It's super easy to use. I've used it for several big purchases. It's unobtrusive (no spam or advertising emails) from them. Check it out: http://www.priceprotectr.com/

My favorite site for finding promotion codes is: retailmenot.com. It's user supported and usually has the best ones. Also, cheapcheapcheap.com is a great site for finding great deals and if I need something specific, Albert will hunt down the best deal he can find for me! It's like a cheapskate concierge!

I like dealitem.com where you can search more sites and look at the best deals at once. Also get a chance to win $25.

Great tip on the comparison shopping, Sarah. I forgot to add this to the article.

Checking sites like pricegrabber.com and froogle.com can really send you in the right direction.

Great tips - finding the best deals online is easy to do; it just takes a little practice and sneaky techniques. I would definitely recommend comparison shopping sites to compare prices at a glance, and definitely do not hit the 'order now' button before running a coupon code search on the brand/company. You are bound to find a promo code lurking somewhere.

I would also recommend that any agents that are working for a national franchise contact their peeps to see if there is a volume discount avaiable. I know for a fact that when I was coaching for Prudential they had a great discount running with Dell that allowed them to take a certain % off any price that was advertised. Call me old fashioned as well, but verified resellers (I know you need to research them veryvery well) on Ebay are great places to get add ons like memory, video cards, externals and even software (got my version of ACT through there.)

I am so with you! I've been a long time bargain hunter...my latest is a new 32" LCD for under $450. I have found that joining Newsletters from good sites like newegg.com are a great way to get free shipping and the sales, codes, you mentioned. I am now even looking for non-tech savings like you mentioned. I don't want to become a coupon clipper, but I just might.
