It interesting to see how many IDX providers there are out there now. IDX is still an essential element of any real estate agent's website. I would almost say as a real estate agent, you shouldn't have a website if you don't have an IDX search. People want to search for houses not read about how great you are.

The price is up there! I looked into this several months back for my site: http://www.bradofficer.com . Just couldn't justify the price to value proposition. Great features, but was it really work an extra $60 per month over my chosen provider? I didn't think so.

I'm starting to feel like the choice of an IDX provider is almost as challenging as deciding which new cell phone to get. Though my current provider is less expensive - by half I think - Diverse Solutions doesn't strike me as prohibitive especially after I got a quote for more than twice the monthly cost from another provider.

One of my top criteria is how flexible the custom searches are. I'm always trying to do a custom search for a particular post - and discovering that I can't fine tune the search the way I want. I don't want to switch providers and continue to have those problems or worse yet have them get worse.

I loved the DS features for IDX home search but combined with the high fees my Trend MLS has of $35 a month, it's too rich for me. I went with ihomefinder which seems to be working out nicely.

Intriguing article. I think real estate MLS and IDX solutions will continue to evolve. If its of benefit to the consumer, you can bet that there will be someone there willing to provide a solution to provide it. Whatever the add-on: cost, functioning, and reliability will be the big 3 factors IMO to determine if a feature becomes "standard" in the mainstream.

Being a broker and tech guy I know prices of this type of technolgy will be coming down. I have a business partner who still works for a website company and they are about to release a similair product. Check on my website http://www.SharkHomeSearch.com in a few months and you will probably see it there.

Very impressed with this idx service. I'm planning 2008 budget for website/advertising/marketing and thinking of incorporating new idx service into site. This one seems affordable and offers multiple search features including google map options for users. Currently I'm using Wolfnet at www.buyandselldallas.com

I too agree with Brian's comment. The price is astronomical, albeit the features are above and beyond what other IDX solutions are providing. In my small town of Cedar Rapids, I'm finding that most IDX service providers are not already "on board" with our local MLS provider. I am struggling with finding affordability with features that will set apart my website from other brokers/Realtors. Diverse Solutions quoted me $3699 to get started because the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors MLS was not a part of their system already.

Thanks for the great interview. I think Diverse Solutions has the industry-leading IDX solution right now; however, I had "sticker shock" when they quoted the $100/mo. price. Based on the features and quality, I do not think that the service is overpriced yet they are priced 250% higher than other map-search IDX systems which caused me pause.

We're also seeing some potential clients sit on the fence..waiting until the gas price crisis levels off. My wife Norine and I have traded in a gas guzzler for a hybrid SUV for our real estate team www.weselllouisville.com. Unfortunately that hybrid is underperforming. The gas millage is not what was advertised. I’m told to wait until we get 10,000 miles on it before forming a final opinion! Oh Man!

Hi Reggie.. Great timing on your post. I've been using an IDX solution for several years: http://www.weselllouisville.com/home_search and looking for an alternative. Have you heard anything about Tiger Leads? They created a temporary test site for us: louisvillehomesearcher.com. Interesting concept don?t you think?

It's amazing how home search has developed over the past decade. Currently I use a very simplistic approach to home search on my website because that's what was avaliable when I started in the industry. I may need to see what I can do to update. Great post.
