All the agents in the crib…drop it like it’s hot!
By NikNik · October 12, 2008
Turn up your mobile real estate bizzle with these 2 hot tools.
Dropcard lets you create a virtual business card that can be easily emailed to anyone you meet using your phone. Whether it’s a new client or friend, you can immediately send them your name, email address, phone number, LinkedIn profile, Twitter ID, blog address, website, or anything else you’d like to include. Your dropcard will arrive instantly in the recipient’s email with a vCard attached, so they can import your contact information into their address book.
Dropcard allows you to create 2 business card profiles for free (ex: one for business and one for pleasure). However, the free version limits the number of contacts you can send to (only 15 per month). Perfect option for giving Dropcard a try. But if you’re planning to adopt this paper free technology as a regular business practice, then you should consider upgrading to Dropcard Premium or Elite.
With the upgraded service, you have access to additional features such as: (1) branding your Dropcard with your logo or image, (2) attaching files and important documents, and (3) Dropcard statistics. With Dropcard Premium, you can send up to 100 virtual cards per month and create up to 20 business card profiles. Dropcard Elite is your unlimited option, so send freely! Premium will run you $4.99 a month, and Elite is $9.99 a month. Click here to learn more about how Dropcard works.
MTO readers are in luck, because the first 10 commenters who leave me their twitter username below (ex: @nik_nik) will receive a Premium membership from Dropcard!
With DropSend, you can send large files (up to 1 GB) to your clients quickly and securely. There is no software to install, it works on both Mac and PC systems, and you can store up to 250 MB for free! DropSend offers a variety of plans ranging from $5 to $99 for the Business Plan. Obviously, the more you pay, the more you get. If you find yourself sending several important documents to your clients, then I would consider DropSend Pro or Business. With these upgraded plans you can send unlimited files and utilize some serious storage.
So whether you are adopting greener business practices or just tired of real estate files taking over your garage, DropSend has a plan to keep you organized, secure, and efficient! Oh, and you can always start with the free plan and upgrade later.

Got something to say?
Thank you for sharing this! Sounds like a really great tool. Anything that can incorporate all the ways for clients to reach me directly gets my attention! Tweet me at @ericawallace
I brought Drop Card up at the Ubertor Tech Meet Up last week and both people I mentioned it to looked at me like I was on glue. I handed them both the cards back and put the email addresses right into my phone mentioning that I look forward to the day Drop Card catches on. They laughed and said ‘doubt it’. The crazy part is we where at a met up for Real Estate professionals and how they are implementing technology into their business.
Well see…

Neat tool.
@GeorgeONeill
I have been using the free dropcard for several months although I have not had the oppurtunity to use it often enough (RE tech meeting with real world RE).
the idea of dropsend is great. I have actually been using another service called drop.io which I have found helpful for sharing listing photos with buyer clients.
@mattwilkins
I look forward to checking it out. Thanks for the freebies.

Hey NikNik,
I had set up dropcard right before Inman in SF but haven’t really revisited until this post. I will definitely be incorporating this going forward. In the past we I have been caught without cards twice and this really would have come in handy.

As a locksmith, What a great way to free up paper business cards in my wallet on my dashboard, pockets etc so I can keep up with all my busy real estate agents! Thanks for sharing.

OK, I’m in. Twitter handle: bradhanks. Danke!
Scuze me, dropped something: @bradhanks.
I missed the 1st 10. Was busy signing up for dropcard.
Great idea.

I saw this somewhere before and it looked interesting but I haven’t signed up yet. Last year I would have passed because i was not much of a SMS texting person.
I’m starting to text more and this thing can really be useful when ever I run out of biz cards.
I like the part where you can have two profiles since I have been plagued with Split Blog personality. So depending on whom I’m talking to depends on which biz card they get.
So if any invites left - > @lorennason
Not sure what number we’re on but add me! @derecshuler
Hey Nik… I missed the top 10, but I’m sold anyway! MUST HAVE! So cool! Thank YOU!
Congrats to Commenters 1-10!!!! You scored yourself a Dropcard Premium membership! If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up at Dropcard for your basic account and then you will be upgraded to Premium. Sign up here: http://www.mydropcard.com/registerform.php
Let me know if you have any questions.
Is that Snoop Dog? Anyway, while it seem liek a decent enough service, the file size limit is still only 1gb. For transfering files of up to 2gb in size, do try 2large2email (http://www.2large2email.com/).
