Visualize Your Escape with Viscape

By NikNik · November 20, 2008

I’m hoping to make the most of the upcoming snowboard season and take the family to our favorite Lake Tahoe destination, Incline Village. I usually do all the booking myself on Expedia or with a property manager. However, neither of these options really provide much in “livable details”. You know, what it’s really like to live there and what the locals would tell you.

ENTER: Viscape.com

Viscape.com is where local meets adventure, and in true Web 2.0 fashion is highly community oriented. It’s a place for travelers, property owners, and real estate professional s to interact, conduct business and exchange ideas on getaways!

Viscape invites you to create a free account and profile. You can join and start your own discussions regarding your travel experiences. Ask questions and get the lowdown from locals and other experienced travelers. Share your opinions and experiences from your trips with others right from your profile. You can even subscribe to the RSS feed of your favorite adventurists! Business owners can also create a special business listing page.

The site is still in Beta, but I can see how travelers would enjoy sharing their experiences with other likeminded explorers. The user interface is very clean and straightforward, making it easy to navigate and connect with others. My only suggestion would be a Facebook integration. The ability to share created content across social networks makes it more enticing for users to put more effort into a growing network. A Facebook app that would import all your Viscape content seems like an obvious next step.
