7 Real Estate Events Worth Attending in 2009
By NikNik · February 4, 2009
Of course we can’t go to every real estate conference taking place this year. But we can plan ahead for events that may be coming to your local area. Or better yet, plan for a vacation-learning experience. I may be a bit biased being in California, but San Francisco and San Diego make for great destinations! Here’s the lowdown on all the valuable upcoming real estate conferences….all are worth attending! Which one(s) are you planning for?
REBarCamp Seattle - One day event for passionate real estate professionals who are hungry to learn and share creative and effective marketing ideas and industry trends. When: Feb 13th, 2009 Where: Zillow Corporate Headquarters, Seattle
RETechSouth – Real conversations about the technological changes impacting the real estate industry. Some of the best minds in the industry will gather in one room to share their knowledge. When: March 20th 2009, Where: Gwinnet Center, Atlanta
REBarCamp Los Angeles – If you missed Seattle, don’t worry REBarCampLA is a great day for agents looking to get started with social media marketing and other creative online and offline strategies for growing your business. When: April 2nd ,2009 Where: Location TBA
REBarCamp San Francisco – The 2nd annual REBarCamp SF! The first one was a hit, and this just happens to be where it all began! Join in the conversation and collaboration. It’s also a great way to kick off the Inman Connect SF (if you’re attending that one as well). When: August 4th, 2009 Where: Exact location TBA, San Francisco
Inman Connect SF – Brings together leaders in real estate, finance, and technology to promote change and innovation in the industry. Between the workshops, expo, and events (aka: parties)…this conference is probably one of the most attended (and valuable) RE events of the season. Be there or be square! When: Aug 5-7th, 2009 Where: Palace Hotel, San Francisco
NAR 09 – Registration opens May 5t for the 4 day expo and conference being held in San Diego. Learn to be more productive or renew your motivation with new strategies and tools for your real estate business. When: Nov. 13-16th, 2009 Where: San Diego Convention Center
REBarCamp San Diego – More details to come. When: TBA, sometime during NAR09 Where: San Diego, exact location TBA
Be sure to check back, as I will be updating these events with more information as it becomes available. Oh, and let me know which event you will be attending so we can connect! Woohoo!

Informative post, Nicole – in challenging times many people stop attending conferences, but education and retooling your business is more important than ever now. As we emerge into a stronger market, a group of agents and brokers will be a the head of the pack, and it will difficult for everyone else to catch up.
I couldn’t agree with you more! Learning and assessing new strategies is an on-going process…or journey rather. I find that these events are, at the very least, motivational! Connecting and hearing real-world strategies from other professionals may spark an idea for implementation in your own market….taking your business to the next level….OR just keeping it afloat!
These are all great to know about…can someone pleeease come to the Washington D.C. metro are…we sell houses and like technology, too!
Well, I’ll be at RETechSouth in March and of course LA is my hometown so I’ll see you all when you head out here
AND, if all goes well you can add a REBarCamp Portland in April to this list. Stay tuned for details…
In the vein of real estate technology conferences, I wanted to make you all aware of another conference called Realcomm http://www.realcomm.com. Realcomm’s an international conference which has been around for over 10 years and focuses on technology and automation solutions for the commercial and corporate real estate industries. Associations including NAR, BOMA, SIOR, CCIM, IREM, CREW, NAREC, NCREIF, NAREIM, NAREIT partner with Realcomm and we periodically sponsor technology tracks showcasing technologies for commercial services and brokerage professionals. It’s a great place to get an understanding of what technologies are driving the commercial, industrial, retail, multifamily and office markets.
This is a great list thanks, it helps with planning. Wont be at Seattle, but hope to meet everyone in LA
Karen- I think you’ll see REBarCamps poppinp up in more locations. It’s definitely easier and more cost effective than traveling across the county!
Dale- Sounds good! My in-laws live in Portland = built-in babysitter! Count us in!
Howard- Thanks for sharing info about Realcomm. Looks like a great event for commercial folks!
Dean- I’ll keep an eye out for you in LA!
We had our first jam session today for RE Bar Camp Phoenix. April 27, location TBD. It’s ON! (and not all that far from SF…..)
Alright MTO, REBarCampPDX has a date set. Plan on April 23rd, 09 to come visit your family & be part of this event. Hopefully you guys can make it up here. It will be great to meet you finally.
Thanks Nicole. Your site is awesome and great information. I am recording all the dates down now.
We’ll be at REBarCamp Los Angeles – April 2nd, scheduled to be at the Pasadena Hilton. Hope to see you there!
As a real estate agent myself, I love learning new tools to help me market myself as well as help sell a property. I came accross a new product for realtors that works with your mobile phone, and that help connect the buyer “curbside”, to the inside of your listing!!! Plus you get a text message displaying that a prospective buyer is looking at your listing.
It’s worth taking a look at (at only 15$/listing!!!). See some of you at the conferences!!!
RE Tech South was very good! It was also good to meet the famous Nic Nic and the guy who sits behind her.
