Our very own Reggie Nicolay helped officially launched Cyberhomesblog.com today. Reggie hasn’t wasted anytime jumping into his new role as Director of Social Media for Cyberhomes. Yes, I may be a bit biased since I’m married to the guy. But the Cyberhomes Blog is more than just your run of the mill industry blog. Reggie practices what he preaches here on MTO, by demonstrating how design, content and social media strategies can make for a powerful and insightful online community.
Upon first glance, you’ll notice that Reggie integrated Facebook Connect, like what we’ve done here at MTO. Well, 2008 was a wild ride for us here at MTO. Reggie found himself in a new job, Director of Social Media at Cyberhomes. Chad’s budding blog business boomed (you know how I love good alliteration)! And I took home a Major Award (sorry, too many viewings of A Christmas Story). Well, let’s just say it’s nice to be recognized for working hard. And a little recognition, along with overwhelming support from readers like you, is all the motivation we need to take MTO to the next level in 2009!
If you haven’t already noticed, we’ve already begun tweaking MyTechOpinion. Even the slightest nuance is important to us (just check out our comment stream). The winners of Mashable’s Open Web Awards were announced today! MTO did not take home an OWA….but it was fun to be nominated in the how-to category and participate as a blog partner! Thanks to those of you that took a moment to vote for us!
The Open Web Award Winners are reported in two different ways, Blogger’s Choice & People’s Choice. The Blogger’s Choice Winners are chosen by blog partners from 25 countries and were announced last week. The People’s Choice Winners were announced this morning.

I’m hoping to make the most of the upcoming snowboard season and take the family to our favorite Lake Tahoe destination, Incline Village. I usually do all the booking myself on Expedia or with a property manager. However, neither of these options really provide much in “livable details”. You know, what it’s really like to live there and what the locals would tell you.

Somebody Give Windermere a KISS!

Keep it simple stupid…and that’s just what Windermere has done with the launch of their new homepage today! Finding homes is a snap as their search welcomes you to get started! I searched homes in Danville, CA for which a map quickly displayed clickable home icons. You can easily refine your search and access specific details for properties. When you’ve found a home to your liking, simply choose to save, email or “clip it” (add to your favorites). With an intuitive interface and great data, Windermere is sure to impress the consumer.

Well, that’s what I was hoping for when I read my fortune after eating take-out recently. Actually, I tried switching with Reggie but he held fast to his fortune: “A member of your family will do something to make you proud.” And apparently I did just that this week! In fact, when good things happen, they seem to come in 3’s, so without further ado:
Good fortune #1: I was named as one of the 25 Most Influential Bloggers in Real Estate by Inman News. Can you believe it! I thought @LaniAR (also named on the list) was pulling my leg, but it’s true! I will say, this is obviously a subjective list, but nonetheless, I share this achievement with 24 other rockin’ bloggers, and of course with my MTO co-authors Reggie Nicolay and Chad Johnson. According to Inman News, “This annual list of most influential real estate bloggers recognizes those bloggers who are well-known, well-read and have a knack for stirring up discussion and debate on important, timely and relevant topics for the industry.” I was included in the “Marketing & How-to” section along with Dustin Luther and Jim Cronin.
